Cannes Film Festival Poster. Contact me for your own apartment in Cannes

Film

This is the poster which has been chosen to promote the 69th Cannes Film Festival this year.  The image is designed using stills from Jean-Luc Godard’s film ‘Contempt’.

It’s all there. The steps, the sea, the horizon: a man’s ascent towards his dream, in a warm Mediterranean light that turns to gold. As an image it is reminiscent of a timeless quote by Michel Mourlet used at the beginning of ‘Contempt’ (Le Mépris) : “Cinema replaces our gaze with a world in harmony with our desires”.   But never mind all this glorious high-minded description – to me it is evocative of the opening of all films shown at the festival – with a staircase through the sea to the music of Saint-Saens’ Aquarium from the Carnival of the animals.

This year the Festival runs from Wednesday 11th May to Sunday 22nd May and the Head of the jury is Australian director George Miller.  The opening film on the 11th (where all the members of the Jury are introduced) is not in competition and is Woody Allen’s new film “Cafe Society”.  The film is set in the 1930s Hollywood.

So contact me, Jackie Pressman of French Riviera Property Search SARL, and I will find you a lovely apartment within 10 mins easy walk of the Palais des Festivals.  You can rent for all the conventions (about 1 a month) and use your apartment when not rented.

Join us in Cannes for a wonderful life on the Riviera.
